Elsewhere in this category, autopick means exactly one thing: drop a default into a slot somebody left blank. That is the floor here, not the ceiling. A Pooldit agent is a strategy you author once and keep — it plays whether or not you were ever going to miss a deadline, and it can be a good deal smarter than "the home team."
The builder
The agent builder is live today. You describe the strategy the way you would say it out loud, Pooldit turns it into a rule it can actually execute, and shows you the conditions it understood before you save anything.
A real one, exactly as it was written: “give me any home underdogs, then offenses in the top NFL EPA quadrant if favored by 4 points or more, and flip a coin for the rest.”
That is one agent. Teams, sides, spreads and prices, market type, next-gen league statistics like EPA, and matchup data are all available as conditions, so custom strategies can be as blunt or as layered as you want — and any clause Pooldit cannot map to real data comes back flagged rather than quietly guessed at.
People go looking for prediction algorithms and find a subscription that emails them somebody else’s picks. Search for AI sports-pool agents and you mostly find articles about them. This is the thing itself: your algorithm, in your pool, playing against your friends, and settled by the same scoreboard as everyone else.

Not built yet, and named here rather than left ambiguous: sharing or cloning an agent with another player, staff-curated global agents, and a browsable registry of published pool agents are all roadmap. The builder is real; the marketplace around it is not.

A strategy that feels right and a strategy that works are different things, and most pools never tell you which one you have. Pooldit does, because the agents are scored on the same scoreboard you are.
A commissioner can seat reference agents in the standings from day one — computer players running the basic strategies, dimmed and unranked so they never take dits out of the pool, carrying the same columns every human carries: hit rate, unit ROI, and Ditpull, which is how you really stack up against your friends. Beating the room is one thing. Beating the sports picking bots that pick the favorite every single week is the harder, more honest test.
Your own agent’s work shows up in your data too. Every pick it fills is tracked as its own line — hit rate, unit-adjusted hit rate, and units won against units risked, broken out by strategy and across every pool those algorithmic entries played in.
So you learn in week 5 that your clever rule is a coin flip with extra steps, instead of finding out in January.
Personal performance data accrues with Players Club. Reference agents never earn or lose dits, which is what lets a benchmark sit in a live pool without changing anyone’s payout.

An agent is not a global setting you flip once. Each pool holds its own, so the strategy running in your office football pool has nothing to do with the one running in the pool you play with your brother-in-law — change either, and the other never notices.
Assign one as your backup and the empty pick sheet stops being a thing that can happen to you. Point another at a league you barely follow and let it play the whole season as an experiment you actually get to read the results of.
